Le Jazz Hot

Le Jazz Hot  |  Music of Parisian Cafes in the 30's

The acclaimed Hot Club of San Francisco will create a charming concert invoking an unforgettable Parisian experience.

Love songs and driving gypsy jazz are a combination made famous during the 20’s and 30’s in Paris by the legendary Hot Club de France, Django Reinhardt, and Stephane Grappelli. Following the First World War, the city became a gathering place for artists from around the world and The Hot Club’s unique sound of gypsy jazz reflects this inter-wartime collection of cultures. Keep time with the strum of the rhythm guitars and let the magical guitar and fiddle solos take you on a ride down the Seine and through the heart of the city. .

Dizzy FIngers

Six pianists lend their talents to an evening of music and fund raising. Antonio Iturrioz teaches and performs in the Bay Area and in Europe where he presents the art of left hand piano music. His documentary film on "The Art of Left Hand- A Brief History of Left Hand Piano Music" has been aired on PBS.

Curt Pajer, on the staff of San Francisco Opera and director of the opera program at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, will accompany his wife Vannessa Conlin, who earned a MM in voice from Manhattan Shcool of Mucis. He will also present selection from Schubert and Chopin.

Acclaimed Jazz pianist, Michael Greensill will also join this amazing cast of musicians and surprise us with a few pieces.

Piano duets, so popular in the 1800's, will be performed by Elaine Elder, Linda Scheibal, and Nancy Garden. The ever popular "Billy the Kid" arrangement for two pianos and Sousa's "Stars & Stripes Forever" arrangement for two pianos eight hands rounds out this lively evening of piano music.

This evening is a benefit for the new Yamaha piano recently acquired by the White Barn. Come support our music making efforts and enjoy.
