A Message from Director
and Founder Nancy Garden

Dear Friends,

The hills did resound to the sound of music as we celebrated our 25th Silver Jubilee in September. How blessed we are to live, work, play and celebrate in the Napa Valley. Thanks to all that attended our anniversary event.

Operating as a non-profit, White Barn ticket proceeds benefit important, under-funded charities and organi- zations by offering informal evenings of arts and culture that benefit those in need. Last year we concentrated on charities benefiting children, seniors, Napa Women’s Emergency Services, the Cameo Cinema, St. Helena Food Pantry, and Robert Louis Stevenson Silverado Museum. With your help we were able to set-up an art scholarship at St. Helena High School in the name of Ira Wolk and will award our first $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior in May.

This years programming at the White Barn will celebrate our interest in ‘green living’ and 2011 events will benefit local charities in the forefront of sustainability and education: Napa County Earth Day events and Connolly Ranch Education Center. To promote these ideas the White Barn will celebrate issues of sustainable living with a special event on Saturday October 1, 2011 entitled Day on the Green: slow food, farming and the poetics of nourishment: an outdoor musical, literary and tasting event that incorporates the food products of local farmers. Information booths, the promotion of local growers, environmentally sustainable agricul- tural practices, produce tastings and more will be featured.

New this year will be a series of Sunday Salons at 4 PM featuring Napa valley musicians. Come have a glass of wine, coffee or tea with friends and enjoy a one hour program of music.

For easy reference, our event schedule for 2011 is enclosed along with our Musical Note contribution envelope. Because we do not hold a large fund raiser/auction event, we depend entirely on individual contri- butions. Thank you for considering a tax deductible donation that supports local charities and helps us realize our dream of an intimate space devoted to music, the spoken word, and now sustainability.

Most Sincerely,
